Format.
Target Bowls is a game that is played on a Rink of a standard Lawn Bowling Green.
The game length and period may be varied to suit the players. The standard game is a one hour. Games are played on a rink and progress one ‘end’ at a time.
Rink Layout.
Two targets are painted on the rink, one at each end. The target area is a 3.3 metre circular area consisting of three colours rings: red centre – the red Zone; Blue 2nd zone; and yellow outer zone. Up to 8 players may play on one rink. A number of rinks are available for large groups.
Scoring.
Players score points after the final bowl of an end is played based on the zone in which their bowl has come to rest. I.e. Zone 3 – 3 points, Zone 2 – 2 points, Zone 1 – 1 point. Outside the target area no points are awarded.
Format of Play
Standard Games assume two teams competing against each other. However, this format can also support a free-for-all format where every player is out for themselves.
